The massage therapy techniques provided are listed below. No matter what technique is best for you, you can expect to be treated with respect in a safe and nurturing environment. You will be given an ethical and professional massage.
Swedish Massage - A highly respected form of therapeutic massage that uses various strokes to stimulate the circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, muscular, digestive and nervous systems of the individual. As well, it helps to remind the body of it's own healing capabilities.
Neuromuscular Massage - Also known as Normalization of Soft Tissue (NST). This is a very specialized technique used primarily to help rehabilitate injuries resulting from accidents. This treatment is a deeper form of massage involving trigger points (direct pressure to nodules in muscles which are painful) and helps to break up scar tissue that has formed over the injured muscle(s).
Sports Massage - This type of massage benefits both professional athletics as well as the weekend warriors. There are three types of sports massage:
Pre-event: Massage readies the muscles for activity by warming them up and stimulating circulation. This helps prevent injuries and is applied 15 minutes to 1 day prior to the event.
Post-event: After the event, massage helps remove lactic acid and other toxins that build in the body during heavy workouts or events. This helps prevent muscle soreness and speeds recovery time. This massage is applied shortly after the event and the athlete has hydrated themselves or it can be one day after the event.
Injury Rehabilitation: This helps to drain swelling from injured areas and increase oxygenated blood flow to hasten the healing process and increase mobility to joints. This helps increase recovery time.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Techniques - A light touch technique used to promote health and aid recovery from certain illnesses. Also used to promote wellness, this gentle technique can prevent or reduce fluid retention, enhance the removal of toxins from body tissues and support the immune system.
Prenatal/Labor/Postpartum and Infant Massage - Massage is a wonderful way to relax, increase your energy and relieve discomfort during your pregnancy. During labor, it can help you relax between contractions, reduce pain from tight muscles and provide emotional support and encouragement. In the postpartum period, massage can help you handle the physical demands of caring for a newborn by reducing tension, increasing energy and nurture and comfort you whether or not you are experiencing post partum "blues".
Craniosacral Therapy - A gentle, hands-on method for enhancing the body's own healing capabilities. This technique has proved helpful in a wide range of conditions and can help relieve headaches, TMJD, low back pain and even behavioral challenges in children.
Shiatsu - A form of Japanese bodywork. It is the healing art of using physical pressure. Shiatsu bodywork focuses on your muscles, connective tissue, circulation, lymph and nervous systems. When we access the pressure points in addition to these things, it will tap into your magnetic internal movement of energy in your body. It promotes your health and your personal well-being.
Salt Glow - This treatment contains Dead Sea Salts used for centuries to exfoliate, detoxify and stimulate over-stressed areas. The treatment hydrates and softens the skin. Essential oils are applied to moisturize and give the skin a healthy and supple glow.
